I’d planned on doing a combo “2017-in-Review” and “What About 2018?” post, but it got too long. 🙂
This year, I didn’t get Christmas cards out–lots of reasons why, but really, they’re just excuses. Perhaps I simply couldn’t get motivated. Perhaps I simply wanted to enjoy the season without all the rush.
But even though you didn’t get a card from us this year, here’s our 2017 in review. I hope you’ll like taking a peek back at our year, because I like to have a record as future years go by.
We kicked off 2017 in New Mexico–hiking, eating, playing games, going spa-ing. Most of all, it was good to make new memories with family.
In March, we all returned to Santa Fe for Steve’s and my wedding. We couldn’t think of a sweeter, more dear place to get married than Santa Fe. Not only is it where my father and his wife live, it is a place where we’d already made many happy memories. We were married on March 11 in a small ceremony in my father’s church, surrounded by family and dear friends.
Throughout the year, Steve and I pursued our artist dreams, whether it was simply painting more, attending art retreats or participating in shows.
In September, we joined my high school best friends for an Alaskan cruise to celebrate our 60th birthdays. Though we greatly anticipated the cruise, I’m not so sure we greatly anticipate the birthday. 🙂
Our grandkids have brought us so much joy throughout the year. No way I can capture it with one or two photos, so here’s a collage of some of my favorite memories from this year:
But wait!
Arriving to Andi and James, April 2018 . . . their first child, a son. And our third grandchild! What a way to end 2017 and anticipate 2018!
I’ve seen lots of commentary written by people who were ready to kick 2017 down the road…or flush it down the toilet. 🙂 I’ll agree there were certainly things I’d like to flush.
But the photos above represent what I’m grateful for in 2017 and what I’ll remember about the year–family, friends and good health.
May your 2018 be filled with happiness and blessings!
