Month of Thanks Giving: Day 6 (Fridays!!)

My first thought when I woke to the unwelcome sound of “Silk” on my iPhone (the gentlest alarm tone I could find to barge-in on my dreams) was:

TGIF!!

TGIF

So, today, as on every sixth day of the week, I’m thankful for Fridays. And why do I love Fridays? Because it’s the kickoff to two days that give me time to enjoy those blessings at the top of my list.

Each day as I’ve written about gratitude, the little voice in my head has screamed, “Yeah, but what about what you’re most grateful for?”

I guess my thinking is that those are “givens,” and it would be too easy to list them. (But, I’ll share them in just a second. 🙂 So, I’ve been focusing on gratitude for things that come to mind AFTER these most important things.

Fridays give me time to spend with what I cherish most–the top of my list of things for which I’m grateful:

Fridays kick off time to time to spend with my family–whether it’s having dinner with Adam, Emily or Tommy, talking on the phone to Andi, my dad or siblings, going out with Kim and Paul or watching Tami “Dance with the Stars.”

More time with Obi! (And if dogs can be grateful, I think he’s probably pretty thankful for Fridays, too!)

Time to write and paint. Before I went back to work, I took this time for granted. Now, that time is so limited, I appreciate every minute.

Time to exercise, whether it’s going to the gym, or just going on a long walk with Steve and Obi.

I could go on and on, but I’ll save some for future posts. I think you get the picture of why, today, I say once again:

TGIF!!

TGIF2

Blessing counting is definitely a worthwhile activity, and indeed sharing such as you describe, where revelations are traded and find reinforcement by deepening a bond with another, is beyond delightful; it is profound and may be life altering. Analyzing a little, do you think this new-found sense of connectedness is internal or external? That is, is it the result of changes that have taken place in you in recent months–and hence will be generalized to all aspects of your life–or is it something Steve has engendered uniquely?

milli43, I believe the internal and external sense of connectedness feeds each other. Feeling externally connected strengthens my internal connectedness, and vice versa. I hope that makes sense! Thanks for your insightful comment!
