Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: SHADOWS

Some of my friends have been participating in a weekly photo challenge that I thought would be fun to do, so this week is my first attempt. The prompt is from Cee’s Photography blog.

This week’s prompt is SHADOWS. I took these photos with my iPhone in the last week, and though the quality may not be the best, they represent some of my experiences since I started babysitting my grandson, Tommy.

See my iPhone in the shadow? Poor little Tommy must think it’s a part of my face. I usually take at least a dozen photos a day of him. Just think–if I had to resort to holding all the pictures in my wallet, my purse would weigh about 37 pounds. I love my iPhone!

But one of my favorite past times is to take Tommyshadow3 outside and experience the world through his eyes. To hear a bird for the first time. See the sunlight flicker on the leaves of a tree. Wonder about the roar of a jet engine that comes from the blue sky. To listen to the wind whisper to me as it brushes across my face.

And though I don’t think a video counts in the photo challenge, I’m posting a video I took with my iPhone today. It captures one tiny moment of our time in the backyard.

Maybe that’s what I like about this photo challenge. It encourages us to look at the world fresh and new. Thanks, Cee!

What a warm post, Jan… and in the back of your mind, you may be imagining what it was like for the babies born in camp…

Thanks, Koji. Babysitting Tommy has definitely made me think about how important the first years of a child’s life are, and all the different ways “life” circumstances can affect another life.

You are clearly loving that special relationship with your grandson.

I’ve been writing about Wendy Darling lately and this post brings up all kinds of thoughts about shadows. The first picture evokes images of the infant Peter in Kensington Gardens. Don’t decide for young Tommy what he should be when he grows up or he may run away to the Neverland!

I really like the photo in Santorini, the shadows are soft and blend with the tone of the sky.
